LISA GRAVES
a nationally recognized expert on the influence of special interests and dark money
Lisa Graves is one of the nation’s foremost experts on how special interests and dark money distort our political system. She has been a frequent guest on MSNBC and has also appeared numerous other television and radio shows and has been quoted by most of the major newspapers in the U.S.

Lisa created True North Research and is its Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief. She has spearheaded several major breakthrough investigations into those distorting American democracy and public policy. True North has several research projects, including KochDocs.org and iwfexposed.org, which shine a light on these issues.

Lisa Graves has served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Clinton Administration, Chief Counsel for Nominations for Senator Patrick Leahy on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, Deputy Chief of the Article III Judges Division of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, and an adjunct law professor at George Washington University Law School. She also served as the Senior Legislative Strategist for the ACLU on national security and testified as an expert before committees in both houses of Congress. In 2018, she helped shape the national conversation on the Brett Kavanaugh nomination.
